His name was Orion Clemens, and his family and younger brother Samuel followed Mr. Clemens to Carson City. Samuel started to write more in Nevada, and began using the pen name of Mark Twain. He soon became an ace reporter for the Territorial Enterprise in Virginia City, Nevada. Mark Twain often visited his brother and family at 502 Division Street, and was later became a key fundraiser for the Presbyterian Church down the street. Orion Clemens lived in this house with his wife Mollie and daughter Jennie. Jennie died in 1864 at age 9.
Twain believed his brother was ripped off by a undertaker on Carson City named Samuel Wright. Jeannie's death led to Mr. Twains life long battle against greedy undertakers.
